27:1

不要為明日而誇張自己,因為一日要發生什麼事、你尚且不知道呢。

27:1

Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

27:2

讓別人誇獎你吧!可別你親口自誇啦!讓外人稱讚吧!可別你親嘴自讚哦!

27:2

Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

27:3

石頭之重!沙土之沉!愚頑人之惹怒、比這兩樣更重!

27:3

A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath is heavier than them both.

27:4

烈怒之凶猛、怒氣之橫流!還可以對付﹔對嫉妒、誰能敵得住呢?

27:4

Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

27:5

顯露的勸責好過隱藏的愛。

27:5

Open rebuke is better than secret love.

27:6

愛友加的創傷、出於忠誠﹔仇恨者連連親嘴、多而且詐。

27:6

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

27:7

人飽飫了,連蜂房的蜜也厭惡﹔人餓了,對什麼苦物都覺得甜。

27:7

The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

27:8

人怎樣離本處而飄游,鳥兒也怎樣離窩而游飛。

27:8

As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

27:9

膏油和香料使人的心歡喜﹔朋友的甜蜜能鼓勵(傳統︰與『力量』相似)精神。

27:9

Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.

27:10

你的朋友、和你父親的朋友、你都不可離棄。你遭患難的日子、不可上你弟兄家裡去。附近的鄰居勝過遠隔的弟兄。

27:10

Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

27:11

弟子啊,你要作智慧人,好叫我的心歡喜,使我有話可應付那羞辱我的。

27:11

My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

27:12

精明人一見災禍就躲藏﹔愚蠢人卻前往去受罰受害。

27:12

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

27:13

他為陌生人作保麼!拿他的衣服!他替外人(傳統︰外女)擔保麼!叫他負責當頭!

27:13

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

27:14

清晨早起、大聲給朋友祝福請安的、這就算為他的咒詛。

27:14

He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.

27:15

陰雨天不斷的滴漏︰好紛爭的婦人就跟這一樣﹔

27:15

A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

27:16

人要包藏她、就等於包藏著風,拿右手去抓滑油(本行意難確定)。

27:16

Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.

27:17

鐵磨鐵、使它銳利﹔朋友相琢磨、使容光煥發。

27:17

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

27:18

顧守無花果樹的、必吃樹上的果子﹔謹慎伺候主人的、必得尊榮。

27:18

Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.

27:19

臉面對臉面怎麼樣(傳統︰像在水中)﹔人心對人心也怎麼樣。

27:19

As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.

27:20

陰間和滅亡處(希伯來文︰亞巴頓)永不滿足﹔人的眼目也永不滿足。

27:20

Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

27:21

鼎是要煉銀的,爐是要煉金的﹔人被試煉、則是照他所受的稱讚。

27:21

As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.

27:22

你雖將愚妄人搗在臼中,﹝用杵將他跟碎谷同搗﹞他的愚妄還是離不了他。

27:22

Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.

27:23

你要詳細知道你羊群的近貌,留心料理你的牛群﹔

27:23

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds.

27:24

貲財既不能永有,財富(傳統︰冠冕)哪能代代保存?

27:24

For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation?

27:25

乾草割去,嫩草出現,山上的菜蔬都被收斂,

27:25

The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.

27:26

羊羔的毛可以給你做服裝,公山羊可以做買田地的價銀﹔

27:26

The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.

27:27

並有山羊奶、夠做你的食物﹝你一家的食物﹞,也足以維持你的女僕的生活.

27:27

And thou shalt have goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.

箴 言

28:1

惡人雖沒有人追趕,也逃跑﹔義人卻坦然無懼、像少壯獅子。

28:1

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

28:2

邦國因有罪過、人君就多更換﹔因有明達和知識的人、國必長久存立。

28:2

For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

28:3

惡(傳統︰窮乏。或點竄作『富』字)人欺壓貧寒,橫掃雨沖沒了糧食。

28:3

A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

28:4

捨棄律法的、稱讚惡人﹔遵守律法的、跟惡人相爭。

28:4

They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

28:5

壞人不明白公平﹔惟獨尋求永恆主的、全都明白。

28:5

Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

28:6

依純全而行的窮乏人、勝過所行乖僻、又是富足的人。

28:6

Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

28:7

恪守指教(同詞︰律法)的、是明達之子﹔跟貪吃的人作伴的、羞辱了父親。

28:7

Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

28:8

以利息或物資利增加財物的、是等於給那恩待貧寒者而積蓄。

28:8

He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

28:9

轉耳不聽指教(同詞︰律法)的、他的祈禱也可厭惡。

28:9

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

28:10

使正直人誤入壞路的必掉在自己所挖的坑裡﹔惟獨純全人必繼承美業。

28:10

Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

28:11

富足人自以為有智慧﹔但明達的貧寒人卻察透他。

28:11

The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

28:12

義人歡躍,大有光榮﹔惡人興起,人都被搜查。

28:12

When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

28:13

遮掩自己罪過的、必不能順利﹔承認罪過並離棄的、必蒙憐憫。

28:13

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

28:14

不斷存著敬畏心的、這人有福啊!硬著心的、必陷於禍患裡。

28:14

Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

28:15

惡的統治者轄制貧民,像吼叫的獅子、往來覓食的熊。

28:15

As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

28:16

多行勒索的人君、全無明哲(此行調換傳統的次序)﹔恨惡不義之財的、必延年益壽。

28:16

The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

28:17

流人血的人(傳統似作︰人受欺壓于流人血之中。意難確定)必逃跑、到入陰坑﹔人不可支持他。

28:17

A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

28:18

依純全而行的必蒙拯救安全﹔所行乖僻的必然跌倒(傳統此處原有︰於一個之中。今略之。或點竄作『於坑中』)。

28:18

Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

28:19

耕種自己田地的、必吃飽飯﹔追求空洞洞事的、必飽受窮乏。

28:19

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

28:20

忠信人必多蒙祝福﹔急迫要致富的、必難免於受罰。

28:20

A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

28:21

看重人的外貌、很不好﹔人因了一點食物就犯法、也很壞。

28:21

To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

28:22

小心眼兒的人急於要發財,不知缺乏就要臨到。

28:22

He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

28:23

勸責人的、終究必蒙悅納,比那用舌頭諂媚人的還受歡迎。

28:23

He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

28:24

強奪父母之業、而說︰『不是罪過』的,那是跟毀滅人的同類。

28:24

Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

28:25

貪欲勃勃的惹起紛爭﹔倚靠永恆主的、必得豐裕。

28:25

He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

28:26

心裡自恃(同詞︰倚靠)的、乃愚頑人﹔憑智慧而行的、必蒙搭救。

28:26

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

28:27

給予貧窮的、不致缺乏﹔掩目不看的、必多受咒詛。

28:27

He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28:28

惡人興起,人就躲藏﹔惡人滅亡,義人便增多。

When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

屢次受責罰、仍然硬著脖子的、頃刻間必破敗,無沒可治。

29:1

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

29:2

義人執政(傳統︰增多),人民就喜樂﹔惡人掌權,人民就嘆息。

29:2

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

29:3

愛慕智慧的、使父親喜樂﹔跟妓女結交的、浪費錢財。

29:3

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

29:4

王以公平使國立定﹔一個逼索稅貢的、使國翻毀。

29:4

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

29:5

人以諂媚引誘鄰舍,是設羅網去絆他的腳步。

29:5

A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

29:6

壞人的過犯中有網羅纏住自己﹔惟獨義人能奔跑(傳統︰歡呼)、歡喜快樂。

29:6

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

29:7

義人知照貧寒人的案件﹔惡人不曉得知照困苦人。

29:7

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

29:8

褻慢人噴吐怒火於城中﹔智慧人卻止息眾怒。

29:8

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

29:9

智慧人跟愚妄人辯訴﹔愚頑人或怒或笑、總沒有安靜。

29:9

If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.

29:10

好流人血的、恨惡純全人﹔惡人(傳統︰正直人)尋索他的性命。

29:10

The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.

29:11

愚頑人有氣(同詞︰靈)全都發出﹔智慧人忍氣息怒。

29:11

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

29:12

掌權者傾聽虛假的話,他的臣僕就都邪惡。

29:12

If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

29:13

窮乏人和欺凌人的人彼此相遇﹔二者的眼都蒙永恆主光照。

29:13

The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

29:14

君王憑忠信為貧寒人申正義﹔他的國位必長永堅立著。

29:14

The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

29:15

責打的刑打能增加智慧﹔放縱的孩子使母親羞愧。

29:15

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

29:16

惡人執政(傳統︰增多),過犯就加多﹔義人必看見他們敗倒。

29:16

When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.

29:17

管教你的兒子,他就使你得安寧﹔他必使你的心得到快樂(原文︰爽口物)。

29:17

Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

29:18

沒有先知先覺的教訓(原文︰異象),人就放肆﹔遵守律法的便為有福。

29:18

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

29:19

只用說話、僕人並不會受訓練﹔他雖明白,卻不能有反應。

29:19

A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

29:20

你見過說話急躁的人麼?愚頑人比他還有可望處。

29:20

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

29:21

僕人若從小嬌養慣了,終久必忘恩負義。

29:21

He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

29:22

好生氣的人能惹起紛爭﹔愛發烈怒的、必多有過犯。

29:22

An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

29:23

人的驕傲必使他降為卑微﹔心(同字︰靈)裡謙卑的、必獲得尊榮。

29:23

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

29:24

同盜賊分贓的、是恨惡自己﹔他聽見叫人起誓的命令,卻不作証(原文︰言語)。

29:24

Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

29:25

懼怕人的、乃自設網羅﹔但倚靠永恆主的、必得到安穩。

29:25

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

29:26

求統治者情面的人很多。惟有從永恆主、人才得直。

29:26

Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the LORD.

29:27

義人所厭惡的是不義的人﹔惡人所厭惡的、是行徑正直的。

29:27

An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,

30:2

我是畜類無知,不齒於人類的﹔我沒有世人的明達。

30:2

Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.

30:3

我沒有學習智慧,也不明白關於至聖者的知識。

30:3

I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
